New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz wore 2012 Super Bowl XLVI Jerseys and earned second-team All-Pro honors after catching 82 passes for 1,536 yards and nine touchdowns as the team’s No. 3 receiver this season. But the undrafted free agent from UMASS nearly found himself bounced off the Giants’ roster at the end of his first training camp, Mike Garafolo of Newspaper reports. "People call it lucky. I say we got blessed with the situation. I would rather frame it that way," Giants general manager Jerry Reese said of Cruz. "I am happy for the kid. He is a local, afterthought free agent and now he has got a podium out there. "That is beautiful, man. You cannot make that up." Cruz was headed towards the waiver wire before some high-level front office decision-makers reversed course and kept him on the 53-man roster. Cruz’s three touchdowns in the preseason finale against the New York Jets likely solidified his roster spot. "I hope they cut him," Jets head coach Rex Ryan said. "I know one team that would be ready to sign him, and that would be us."
