Postcard from Atlantic City - The Commute
14-Apr-08 21:29
I was pretty excited to get on the road this morning, and thrilled when Mapquest projected a 2 hour commute. I made it to my hotel in just under 3 hours. Its not that I’m a bad driver, its just that Mapquest is useless with a broken odometer.
What made the commute longer was that I forgot my iPod, so I had to rely on an old mix-tape from 1992. Sure there were few highlights, but I couldn’t help to wonder what it was about the lyrics of Richard Marx’ "Right Here Waiting" that touched me at the tender age of 17. Where was the longing when at that time the longest I had to wait to see the lady in my life was 3rd Period Study Hall?
The next stop will be Caesar’s Atlantic City where I will attend the official weigh-in for Cotto vs Gomez. Then off to the Tropicana for Soto-Karass vs Smith. An added thrill is that the guy responsible for bringing down to Atlantic City in the first place years ago, Arturo "Thunder" Gatti is scheduled to be in the house.
Later,
