Green Machine sails away again

37 year-old Green first made his debut in the ocean race last year on the 100-foot yacht “Loyal” on Boxing Day 2009.
After completing his initial voyage over three days, Green told the media of his first night at sea. “There was an all hands on deck call about midnight,” he said. “I was absolutely terrified. It was pitch dark, raining. I thought we were going in the drink. It was fairly confronting.”
Super-maxi “Loyal” will be crewed by a number of well-known sporting names in 2010, including Green, Wallabies rugby union captain Phil Waugh, former Wallabies skipper Phil Kearns, Olympic swimmer Geoff Huegill, cricketer Matthew Hayden and world champion surfboard rider Layne Beachley.
The sporting stars are again raising money through their voyage for the Loyal Foundation to be donated to Humpty Dumpty House and other important charities.
In the 2009 Sydney to Hobart, the Investec sponsored Loyal crew finished the race in fourth position and raised $700,000, which was distributed evenly to 14 worthy charities.
