MORE MORONIC WBC SHENANIGANS

25-Mar-10 08:29

Iv’e just read that the WBC are thinking of changing their ’ Interim ’ championships   (which are simply an excuse to rake in more pesos for Mr Sulaiman and his gringos while they drink pina coladas during siesta )
to ’Silver’ championships next.

The reason for this in the grand poobah’s words is "to give value to many fights that cannot be for a WBC world title but are bouts of great importance."

This also comes about as there seems to be as many ’interim champions’ as there are actual real WBC champions.

The Interim championship exists if a WBC champ is inactive for six months or more due to medical or legal reasons. Lord knows whatever happened to the logical step of stripping a guy if he didn’t defend , and letting the next two available fighters duke it out.

I guess this begs the question - what the f**k???

What’s next , a Bronze championship for a box off between numbers three and four?

In the WBC heirarchy we already have a WBC champion , the champion Emeritus , an Interim championship , an International champion and let’s not forget the always important WBC Youth Championship....

God help us , I bet the next step will be a national title - WBC Bulgarian championship sounds fantastic doesn’t it?

Perhaps I should’t have written that lest I give these clowns some creative spark of idiocy yet again.

Yet another reason why the sanctioning bodies are killing the sport , and no one takes Boxing seriously.
