Khan Calamity KO
08-Sep-08 22:31
Have just done a quick search on YouTube to see if the Khan knockout is on there, and amazingly there are a number of clips that seem to have gone up in less than an hour after the fight!
In total the KO has been watched over 2 million times with enough comments to make up a few chapters of Encyclopedia Britannica (and a few dozen lawsuits!)
It has to be said that this is a spectaculat knockout, but not as spectacular as this one:

One of the main threads for discussion on the web regarding this shocking performance is Khan’s lack of chin.
Wouldn’t it be a good idea to do a few (or even compare as I think they’re compulsory in most countries now) brain scans to see if there is a reason why one boxer has a good chin and another a glass jaw?
This could be one for Dr Goodman to answer, but it would be good to see some solid scientific research - could help promoters choose their stable and help with their tactics.
My guess is it has to do with the amount of fluid around the brain and the muscles around the neck being quick enough to help absorb the punch, rather than just keep the head still.
I was looking at some Prince Naz clips and he was caught a few times, but because of his rections and the way he would throw his head back, he didn’t seem to catch many shots full on.
The referee should be investigated for letting that fight go on, as some serious damage could have been done to Khan in the state he was in when he got up - it was clear to me that the fight was over, and maybe a better move by the ref would have been to keep talking to Khan for another split second or make him walk forward some more to give him time to make the call. He was, no doubt, under a lot of pressure to give Khan a chance, but his chance will come - he’s not 31, he’s got time.
