This could be the first of many bouts featuring fighters from eastern Europe and Russia held in the US.

Are there any US heavyweight prospects that will challenge these guys soon?

The real issue is not only are there any Americans or western Europeans to challenge these heavyweights but that there are many more Russian and Ukranian heavyweights coming through. There is a young kid Usenko that should be watched.

Not soon, but maybe give him two more years,  Chris Arreola is a Mexican American heavyweight prospect who hits hard and has some raw talent that is still developing.  He just might challenge for the title someday.

I don't see any Americans that can beat Klitschko, do you?

The heavyweight division is just poor full stop, all nationalities.

I'm from the Uk and am very excited about David haye, who just became undisputed cruiserweight champ and is moving up to heavy. He's a natural heavyweight (walks around 220 pounds), has tremendous power and speed and bags of charisma. he loves putting on a show for the fans although his chin and stamina have been questioned.

He's fought once at heavyweight, demolishing the WBC no 11 ranked fighter in 50 odd seconds.

Once he makes it over to US he'll be a big deal guaranteed.

Yes, I agree. I've taken to calling the horde of Slavic heavyweights "The Red Army Invasion." The former Soviet Bloc just has a big number of big men for whom boxing is one of only a few viable professional sports that offer a way out of the ranks of the working poor.

Roberto1 - this is one of the things I mentioned in my article (linked to above). Basically, if you buy the idea that the most fertile recruiting ground for pro fighters are working class inner city kids that don't have an option like baseketball, then the former Soviet Bloc is where a big chunk of the future heavyweight contenders are going to come from. It has that combined with being one of the few places in the world that turns out big guys in quantity. I also think the quality of the "Red Army" will improve as the next generation, free of the all-amateur style of the Soviet days, comes into the scene.

Haye will be a force at heavyweight!

Point 1) Haye was a huge cruiserweight - much bigger the Evander Holyfield (Back then cruiserweight division weight was 190lb). Haye has to boil himself down to even make the new 200lb limit to make fights. He walks around between fights at 16stone!

Point2) Klitscko has been knocked out twice by smaller guys than Haye, who had a bit of speed and can bang. HE HAS NO CHIN OR DEFENSE!! Following these defeats he has become a much more cautious fighter. Content to just paw out the jab for 12 rounds even against slow light punchers…

Haye can now fight at what is natural weight - I expect he will come in around 16.5 (and he will get bigger as he get older) as not to affect his speed. He will be able to catch Klitschko almost at will. In short he is the worst kind of fighter for Wladimir Klitschko to face and he will take his head of in 3/4 rounds.....

I suspect the real fight will be a grudge match the year after with his brother Vitali. He was able to take full blooded shots from Lewis and fire back and it would make for a good fight.
