This is one fight i would love to see but with mayweather fighting de la hoya in september and possibly fighting hatton again in the spring of 09 at wembley who knows when its going to happen.
I honestly think that should cotto beat margrito on july 27th if mayweather wants to prove he is the best in the world he should fight the unbeaten cotto.
would love hear your views on this

I too would be interested in this one. I have to question if Pretty Boy's latest escapades (WWE) will help or hurt his draw though. Either way, worth the PPV fee...which I don't usually say.

Thats a very valid point alright it will be interesting to see how it has affected him in the boxing world.
I remember an interview with him on sky sports (uk) during the build up to the ppv and he was saying that he does not want to be seen as just a boxer but more of an entertainer.
It was gomez i felt sorry for on saturday night against cotto he was just way out of his league, the sky commentator put it best he wasnt taken to school he was taken on a degree course.
I honestly think that cotto would be his toughest test to date and any true boxing fan would want to see it, hatton is good but cotto is far better and far more equipped to test the pound for pound champion.

Mayweather seems to be a little bored with boxing, but if he makes the mistake of thinking of himself as an entertainer before he retires from boxing he will get taken out by someone.

There's a long history in sports of guys thinking they can do it all then getting beaten by guys who don't deserve to be in the same arena as them, e.g. Lewis Rahman I.

I think he can be more than a legendary boxer, but he needs to finalise his boxing legacy first - he's got the rest of his life to wrestle, dance and prance around.

It seems both DLH and PBF have both forgotten who's been paying for their life styles so far and are now self serving themselves by going against our wishes and forcing us to watch them go at it once again.
it will only happen if we allow it, I call for boycott of their rematch , DLH should retire his style has becomed too cautious to be entertaining, and PBF should  retire or fight the closes treat to him, which is Miguel Cotto and cut out the primadonna stuff.

I agree with all who believe PBF should fight the winner of Cotto vs. Margarito. If PBF truly wants to be PFP the greatest he has to fight and beat the best competition there is. He isn't doing it and that is a shame. We made him rich he deserves to repay us with the fights that we want to see. Archie Moore, Sugar Ray Robinson, Sandy Sadler, Willie Pep and and many other great fihters fought a minimum of 100 pro fights. Todayif a fighter has 40 by the time he retires he is seen as active. Hell the Mongoose had I may be wrong 241 pro fights and he could still talk and think when his career was over. Today's fighter thinks it is all about how much bling you have or how many 100 dollar bills you can stack on your kitchen table. Let "us" the fans remind them who gave them the bills to stack up and flaunt on TV. If Floyd doesn't fight Cotto or Margarito he is a bum in my opinion. And by the way ODLH beat him for eight rounds and would have won if he kept his jab going. Oscar is definitely not stupid maybe he wanted to lose. Or maybe he is dumb and didn't learn a thing from his fight with Tito.

Mayweather IS the best and he has proven it already.
I heard the same stories for years...he is ducking Judah, he is ducking De La Hoya, Hatton will destroy him, etc etc..
He beat them all !
And he will beat Cotto too. Cotto is a great puncher and lionheart but Floyds is better, a truly complete boxer. He is not afraid of anybody simply because he is the best !

Although Mayweather has repeatedly shown himself to be a world-beater I think that if he does get in the ring with Cotto (assuming he beats Margarito) he'll be in for a rude awakening.

Not only is PBF beyond his best but he's also lost focus on cementing his rightful place as an all time great.  The WWE farce is just embarassing.  Furthermore, he will not be able to handle Cotto's aggression and punching power.

Whatever the outcome (and I do hope PBF gets his arse spanked) it will be a quality fight. Bring it on...

Blueben I heard this story lots of times...
Hatton will destroy mayweather....bigger De La Hoya would smash him  blabla blabla
And at the end Pretty Boy has smashed all them.

And he will do teh same with Miguel Cotto, who is not as good as Floyd.

Cotto has not a good chin and despite his defense looks much better against Mosley, he think Mayweather at 100% is too good for him.

That doesnt mean I don t respect Miguel...all the opposite... he is one of the best fighters today, i would rank him N.4 or 5 in the p4p.

First of all, we need to see if Cotto beats Margarito (that s would be hard) and Pretty Boy beats Golden Boy again (I hope so and I hope he will kot him).

Only a lack of training and/or concentration could causes the Mayweather first defeat...I hope he will stay focus on training hard despite all his shows around....

You're right to say that Mayweather has been underestimated in the past, largely because he's such an abrasive character, and that he has proved many wrong.
However, as you point out he can be beaten if he fails to prepare well or if he's not focused.  Both of which will be likely this time round.
He was doubted prior to the DLH and Hatton fight but there he was facing a cahs-fattened DLH and a one-dimensional Hatton who was disarmed by a biased Cortez.  Against Cotto there will be no lucky out.

Cotto is not very fast either.
I think he may be cought  by Mayweather just like Hatton was.
Mayweather is faster, has better skills, better defense, also better chin.
Cotto has power and aggressivity.
Floyd doesn t lack anything.
Hatton at certain point of their match ,"invited" Floyd to exchange body shots and Floyd shown he was very good in exchanging body shots too.
Floyd is the closest to perfection fighter I have seen , probably the closest to perfection of any fighter ever existed.
The biggest enemy is himself, his overego and/or over self-confident and not to give 100% on the ring.
