Re: Paul smith aka Smigga, won his most recent fight vs. Danny Thornton, but lost his fight previous to that vs. Steve Bendall, I believe paul is now being trained by Buddy McGuirt snr but dont no weather thats in the UK or US. Was trained by Billy Graham in his Manchester gym and took McGuirt on as trainer following The Contender USA. Being from Liverpool i'm a fan of his but realisticly, if he's struggling to blow away the likes of Steve Bendall (no disrespect) then his chances on the world stage are slim. But that said he's a nice lad and not a bad DJ!

I do believe Paul will have some domestic sucesess i.e the British title, but may struggle at European/World level. But that said in this crazy world you never no, so i refuse to write him off at European or World level after all he is only 24ish! so he has time on his side and if he's got the skill to go with the obvious will then he may just shock people and do something big! May the force be with you!

I think Paul was due to have a rematch with Bendall on the Kahn, Bredis Prescott undercard, but Bendall pulled out for whatever reason so in stepped Danny Thornton and Paul stopped him in 6 or so rounds (as he should have done and probly will do in the rematch against Bendall). I think the Bendall defeat was probly a blessing in disguise and the kick up the arse he needed to put some much needed energy back into what he does best!

i agree,i think paul is his own worse critic and he knows himself and will be the first to admit that he has not done himself justice.however,i have only seen a short clip of the bendall fight so i cant comment, but i have spoke to people who seen it and they all agree that it should have gone to smigga!!! RIGHT OR WRONG??

The fight could have gone either way and a draw seemed the fairest result but having said that Paul only has himself to blame for letting it get to that stage, Bendall shouldnt have been allowed to see the final bell and i believe if Paul had imposed his will on the guy and said to him self time to get this bum out of here instead of worrying that he's gonna run out of steam i'm sure he would have no problem stopping Bendall or any other middleweight in Britain, then once he's conquered Britain he'll have the confidence to take on the best in Europe and then who knows.
