Topic: Audley Harrison Vs Ed Perry
Aiden (11 Posts) on Wed 16-Apr-2008:

I just noticed who Audley Harrison, 36, is fighting at the Calzaghe-Hopkins undercard. Ed Perry, ive never heard of him, but looking at his record, hes fought before at cruiser weight so Audley will probably have significant weight advantage on him.
Im just interested to know what peoples views are on the form olympic gold medalist and if anyone thinks that he has a future in the heavy weight devision

Harrison is finished - if he was any way serious he would have had a fight before now (I haven't heard of one) and this would be an 8 rounder against someone half decent.

He's getting too old and I think he's trying to claw back some dignity, but he's not going to get it.

The chances are he'll come back to the UK and fight Sprott, Williams or the other brawler who's name escapes me, or Warren may be setting him up for a fall against Haye.

He'd be good cannon fodder for Haye, and would really get the general public buzzing about Haye in the UK if Haye beat him, which he would.

The only way I'm wrong is if he finally stops blinking when his opponent is throwing a punch! It may mean that he's grown some balls and is serious about winning.

Aye you might be on to a point about warren using him as cannon fodder for Haye it would generate alotof goodwillfor him, think alot of people would like to see harrison on his bum again. and why else would warren even want to touch Audley, his stock is so low.
Yeah its def too late in his career for a title, could maybe do something domestically but dont think i could sit through another williams - harrison fight

I couldn't agree with Chef and Aiden more.  After seeing the joke of a contest on the undercard last night and Audley's subsequent comments it's clear the tentative grip he had on a claim to being a title-contender has finally slipped.  To claim that Barnett offered any serious challenge is plain delusional.  To compound such irrational ravings with a completely ineffectual performance (irrespective of a 14 mth lay-off and his recent personal problems) clearly shows Audley's time is up.

His only future in boxing is to provide Haye with a leg-up into the public consciousness as he embarks on his Heavyweight career.  Warren once again showing himself to be a canny operator.

Audley; a waste of massive heavyweight potential.

the fight on the joe c undercard was bad i mean bad , however first fight back in year after a long layoff and ko its allowed but if he is half serious he needs to fight 4-5 times before the year is out.
