Now that the fight has been signed for May 2nd, unfortunately for me in Las Vegas, how do you guys see the Hatton V Pacquiao fight panning out?

I am a huge fan of both fighters and I am drooling at the prospect of watching them fight. I see the fight being much much closer then Pacquiao's last fight and could actually see Hatton stopping Pacquiao late on with relentless body shots. Having said that, I think it depends on Hatton getting cut...he hasnt been cut too badly recently which is a good sign but if he gets cut early, I can see him being stopped due to that. Let me know what you guys think. Peace.

I think i may be going crazy but i actually fancy Hatton for this one. After backing Malignaggi to outpoint Hatton (bad call) i agree with the above statement and think the fight will either go to Hatton late on via sickening body shot or to Pac man via cuts stoppage again  late on. Hatton will put on a better showing than ODH who was frazzled at welterweight and running on empty before the first bell even rang. Hatton will be the much heavier man on the night and if he is not overrun with the Pac man's speed and stays on top of the smaller man he could put enough weight and strength on the former flyweight to wear him down and stop him, however, if Manny gets into the groove early this could again be a mauling ala Del la Hoya style, but what ever happens this is a great fight for the fans, there's gonna be blood! Prediction - I'm one for backing the underdog so i'm going with Hatton by late stoppage TKO9

I pick Pac man in this one only because he can hurt hatton he will get to hatton with his left & with the style of Ricky how he always comes forward there is a real big possibility that he will walk on to Pac's left this will increase the power in the shot also the angles he gives people coupled with his speed of foot & hand are going to be a factor Paulie just had no power but FLOYD has average power & caught hatton coming in & got him out of there thats why i picked pac as i think he can do the same CHEERS CANT WAIT FOR THE FIGHT.

Cheers for your comments, however I am not too sure that Pacquiao can hurt Hatton sufficiently. I watched him out class Dela Hoya, but I think that too much may be made of that win, does anyone else agree?

Hatton is a BEAST at 140, is suprisingly quick and has more power then Pacquiao has ever faced (albeit Dela Hoya would have had more in his prime). I don't think Hatton will get stopped by KO, only by cuts if at all. Pacquiao's speed will be a huge factor, but he is nowhere near as good defensively as Mayweather so he will be considerably easier to hit I believe. I think the early rounds will go Pacquiao's way, but I once I see Ricky landing some shots, I can definately see him hurting Pacquiao and if he can make it into a brawl (Pacquiao is known for it) then I can see him doing a lot of damage. I think a lot will depend on if Hatton gets frustrated like he did against Floyd and abandon the game plan. Under Mayweather Snr I think that is much less likely, and his tactics will be a lot better this time around. It will be interesting to see Pacquiao fighting at 140 against a fighter perfect for that weight, if his power carries and if he can take a shot, he didnt take a decent shot against a shell of an Oscar D!

All being said, this could be my "Hatton Heart" ruling my head, as I would love to see Hatton get to the very top and get the chance at Mayweather again, whatever the result. Peace.

Yeah good POINT LUKE HE has to hurt hatton enough to gain his respect but if he does it will be a hard night for hatton i just feel pacs foot speed & angles he gets will frustrate hatton as he tends to bullock in with them sweeping hooks this i feel will be the perfect set up for pac to unleash his lethal left he is a bit quicker then mayweather in that department & he will have to tie hatton up in close if he does that well then hatton will get frustrated even more because thats were he gets his work done CHEERS mate & thanks for the reply

I believe this fight is a fantastic match up and would be much closer than the disappointing De La Hoya/Pacquiao fight. Hatton and Pac Man both really come to fight and i could see the fight being a thriller. With Hattons dominance at 140 lbs it would be hard to bet against a points win in his favour but Pacquiao's hand and foot speed is always going to give him a questionable advantage. However unless the Pac Man agrees to a 50-50 split, the fight could be in jeopardy. Lets hope it happens! Hatton W12

Did I speak too soon when I said "Now that the fight has been signed"....GUTTED.

Pacman is either greedy, or aprehensive. $20 million + not enough these days? Or does he just wanna fight Floyd more...Whatever the case..i am devastated.

Pacquiao V Mayweather
Hatton V Diaz or Marquez

Winner fights winner. At Wembley. 50/50 purse. Sorted.

Fello bloggers - greetings!  I have to go with the Pac-man in this fight.  I've always felt Hatton is just a tad bit overated.  a miniature John "jab & grab" Ruiz.  He's a brawler/mauler not much more.  Pac-man will figure him out, make adjustments and drill him to death (not a good word probably) with straight lead lefts all night long.  No fighter is unbeatable but in case anyone hasn't noticed, Manny looks about close to unbeatable as one can look right now.  Plus, lets not forget Pac-man has Freddie Roach as his trainer and I don't know if there's a better trainer in the sport right now.

Hatton all the way for me, the guy's too good at light welterwieght. Pac man was impressive against oscar, but the guy was far to light on the night, Also i feel mayweather snr would't take the fight if there was a slight doubt of losing....

Hatton is consistently underrated by the yanks. He'll prove them wrong again in this fight.
The comparison between Hatton and Ruiz always makes me laugh, to be honest. I don't seem to remember John Ruiz stopping a top 3 pound-for-pound fighter (Tszyu), crushing a feared Mexican body puncher with his own best weapon (Castilo) or out-boxing a supposedly ultra-slick speedster and breaking him down with ease (Malignaggi).
Anyone who thinks Pacman is near "unbeatable" has an unfortunately short memory span in boxing terms: You only need to go back a year and you'll see him on the brink of defeat against a featherweight whom many think deserved the nod against him on two occasions (JMM).
Ricky Hatton is no featherweight; he's also no 37-year old stick man draining himself just to beat the scales, and don't even think about comparing David Diaz's skills with the Hitman's.
This will be an awesome fight - but write Hatton off (again) at your peril.
P.S Julio Brown are you on something in that picture?

first time messaging on here good one to start with i think. this the most attractive mix of to amazing boxers being british i am pro hatton 100% but i always have strongly been a believer paquiao is by far the most gifted p 4p boxer there has been 4 a very long long time id say since hurricane hank(only video footage 2 go by). there are a varied amount of outcomes to come from ths battle of warriors none id personaly stake my life on, but i think from word go if the hitman can impose his strenghth and out power pacman then it may b game over as kosta tsyzu found those body shots aint for the faint hearted, but if pacman can match hattons power we all no there is no match for pacmans speed and he is frighteningly relentless. genuinly as a true brit hand on heart pacman takes it early on maybe late 3rd early 4th stoppage maybe on cuts maybe tko. i prey im wrong and im with hatton til death but i tipped pacman over golden boy now i gotta go wit the little phillipino again. theres only 1 ricky hatton!!!!!!!

Nice comments. Here's a long one..

I also think that this one is a very difficult pick, and I certaintly won't be betting anything on the result! If, and it is a big IF Pacquiao can hurt Hatton and IF Pacquiao doesn't get hit hard in the process it will be an easy and short night for 'Pacman'. After all the 'Pacman' is naturally more technically gifted, is faster and has better footwork. However, i'm not sure this is enough.

This is why. 1) Hatton is a natural 140lb'er, never beaten at the weight, and physically dominated  nearly all of his opponents - even Tszyu was dominated and he was seen as a monster at the weight. Pacman has only fought once at lightweight, and once above - in a fight against a wilted DeLa Hoya. He is used to fighting much smaller, weaker guys. Can he hurt Hatton, and can he take a Hatton punch?! 2) Pacman's footwork is excellent, but Hatton is very good as closing off the ring as well as approaching with angles and jabs, having Mayweather Snr in his corner will only help to compose his approach, meaning he will be less suceptible to taking shots on the way in, although inevitably he will do. 3) Hatton body shots. Hatton's body shots have put down seasoned 140lb'ers, if he lands cleanly on Pacquiao's body, can his body take the power? No doubt he will be immensely conditioned, but there is only so far conditioning will prepare a fighter for Hattons body shots. 4) Hattons straight right hand lead. I think this will be the key punch to a Hatton victory. Manny Pacquaio has a devastating left hand, but Hatton's straight right has been a key punch througout his career and if he can use this punch effectively I can see him doing very well in this fight.

Well, that is my thoughts. I am still not going to make an outright prediction. I am a Hatton fan, but love the Pacman's style just as much! My questions surrounding the fight are these:

Can Pacquaio hurt Hatton?
Can Pacquaio take a Hatton punch, head and body?
Can Hatton close him down well enough to land sufficient punches?
Will Hatton's susceptibility to getting cuts affect the fight?

I also see Hatton slightly favorite, but FORTUNATELY we cannot really say for sure, i say fortunately coz I dont  want to miss the suprise this open and fantastic fight could give to us.
That s one of the most awaited fights in my life, I would have loved to be in Las Vegas ,but I will be in fron on my TV with a great dosis of enthusiasm.
I like both fighters but -sorry for the Englishmen- I would love to see Pacquiao suprising us again and win this match, because I would like to see later this year a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight.
I would love to see Mayweather coming out from retirement and beat Pacquiao (or Hatton again),  the beat JM Marquez (who called him out) and than snatch the middleweight crown by beating Abraham.
After that, Pretty Boy would be regarded as the best of all times, as the closest to perfection fighter in history.
Hatton has never been in crisis, he has always been a tremendous fighter, he just lost against the best of best: that s it ,but if he beats Manny, he will have a second chance.
But I am with Pretty Boy, sorry. I want to see him regarded as the best fighter ever.

PACMAN VS. THE HITMAN..                                                                                                                    It will again be listed among the greatest fights ever in the history of boxig but fortunately only one can take the fame and the other is shame.in my perspective it will never be a close fight the way i see.surely manny will eat hatton alive,i dont thik hatton is fast enough to counter the rapid fire of the pacman.its will be a total devastation of the briton.im so sorry for ricky cause he's gonna be KO INDEED.

I like both fighters but I think Hatton will take this, He is a beast at 140, undefeated at this weight. He will not be coming in half dead like DLH he will be firing back. He is very stong, has good hand and foot speed and stamina at this weight and will probably come in a bout 154 (heavier than DLH) As long as he is setting his combinations up and not just walking forward onto big shots trying to land I dont think Manny will be able to trade with him. Im sure Floyd Sr wont let him do that.

I think either hatton by knockout in the round 1 - 3 or manny will outbox, punish and finally knockout Hatton in the later rounds. No way does this go to UD or MD or SD!!!
