Has Warren signed Prescott? on Thu 16-Oct-2008:
If Warren has Prescott (or even if he doesn't), it would be good to see a re-match with Khan next year to really see if Khan has what it takes.

Although Khan has a weak chin if he can learn to fight as a pro instead of an amateur, i.e. learn to defend, move, counter and take his time over 10 rounds, I think he's big enough to be a threat.

Has Warren signed Prescott? on Mon 8-Sep-2008:
Is there any truth to the rumours that Warren has signed Prescott?

Haye could do very well initially - he hits like a heavy and has learnt to keep his guard up and take his time since the Thompson loss.

He will struggle against s heavy with a good jab, but so few even throw a decent jab (Klitschko's and Valuev?) that he'll probably be OK against most of them.

He needs to focus on a game plan for each one he meets, as he's unlikely to be able to go out and just blast them out of the ring. The best mindset for me would be to imagine a re-match with Thompson - take your time and watch out for the counter.

If he does this he'll challange for a version of the title - could be a great last minute replacement, particularly if the opponent has been training for a large heavy!

hopkins-v-calzaghe on Sun 20-Apr-2008:
I didn't watch the fight live, but listened to it on the BBC. They had it for Hopkins due to the knockdown in the first.

I've watched most of it on YouTube and I have to say Hopkins used all the tricks in the book, which may have pissed the judges off a bit, particularly the below the belt stuff.

Looked like he pushed Calzaghe onto the floor in the first, which may have worked against him as if he had managed to keep Joe on his feet he could have landed another couple of punches and taken him there and then.

As it was Joe had time to recover.

Have to say Joe's father was brilliant in the corner - they should have just filmed him!

Cotto-v-Mayweather on Wed 16-Apr-2008:
Mayweather seems to be a little bored with boxing, but if he makes the mistake of thinking of himself as an entertainer before he retires from boxing he will get taken out by someone.

There's a long history in sports of guys thinking they can do it all then getting beaten by guys who don't deserve to be in the same arena as them, e.g. Lewis Rahman I.

I think he can be more than a legendary boxer, but he needs to finalise his boxing legacy first - he's got the rest of his life to wrestle, dance and prance around.

Audley Harrison Vs Ed Perry on Wed 16-Apr-2008:
Harrison is finished - if he was any way serious he would have had a fight before now (I haven't heard of one) and this would be an 8 rounder against someone half decent.

He's getting too old and I think he's trying to claw back some dignity, but he's not going to get it.

The chances are he'll come back to the UK and fight Sprott, Williams or the other brawler who's name escapes me, or Warren may be setting him up for a fall against Haye.

He'd be good cannon fodder for Haye, and would really get the general public buzzing about Haye in the UK if Haye beat him, which he would.

The only way I'm wrong is if he finally stops blinking when his opponent is throwing a punch! It may mean that he's grown some balls and is serious about winning.

hopkins-v-calzaghe on Wed 16-Apr-2008:

If it's close Hopkins wins, maybe by split decision.

Otherwise I can see Calzaghe taking over, particularly in the later rounds.

Whoever finished stronger should take it.

It's also interesting to see that Cortez is the ref! Maybe Joe could swing and miss BHop and land a sucker punch for Hatton!
