Mayweather And Pacquiao Make Weight For Record Breaking Night

By Marc Livitz at the scale in Las Vegas, NV: The doors opened three hours prior to the start of the festivities this afternoon, but every face in the arena seemed to be a beaming one. It’s really been amazing to see how all the pieces, however they have done so, collectively fall into place. All indications thus far point to the next few days registering as a record breaking weekend in Sin City. Just two months have passed since the epic showdown between Floyd Mayweather, Jr and Manny Pacquiao was finally set for tomorrow night by way of an eagerly awaited union of pen and paper.

In addition to an unprecedented demand for tickets to the bout as well as the chance to view the bout on closed circuit television, the tradition now long attached to the weigh in just found a new attribute of its own. Unlike the usual first come, first served (and free of charge) nature of the spectacle held the day before the bout, this afternoon’s weigh in was a ticketed event. Fight fans were required to purchase tickets in advance. The loophole created by respective promoters allowed the illegality (according to Nevada state law) of charging for watching a handful of athletes stand on a scale to be hopscotched.

All proceeds will be given to charitable organizations chosen by each fighter. At ten dollars apiece for weigh in tickets, a notable donation would be achieved today, however the secondary market which undoubtedly cashed in on reselling them is another matter for another day. The atmosphere today in the MGM Grand Garden Arena was electric and fans didn’t seem to mind forking out the cash to get in and waiting a while to catch a glimpse of the two legends who will fire away at each other tomorrow night. Selected weights for tomorrow night’s bout are listed below (blue corner listed first).
