‘Big’ Bob Mirovic fights on
21-Nov-10 23:31

By Paul Upham: Australian heavyweight cult hero “Big” Bob Mirovic continued his career with a 2nd round stoppage win over Bob Gasio on Friday 19 November at the Revesby Workers Club, Revesby, NSW.
After three consecutive defeats to John Hopoate (twice) and a brutal one round knockout against Ale Leapai on 29 April, there were some suggestions that Mirovic would head into retirement.
However, 44 year-old former national champion Mirovic 30-22-2 (21) was licensed to fight in NSW once more and scored a win at the 2:59 minute mark against another veteran, 44 year old Bob Gasio from Samoa.
Lets hope that Mirovic, who came to real prominence for many local fans when he came from behind to knockout Roger Izonritei in September 2002, can find a fitting ending for his extended career, which dates back to 15 May 1987.
