By Paul Upham: Former New Zealander heavyweight Shane “Mountain Warrior” Cameron won his second consecutive fight at cruiserweight with a twelve round unanimous points decision boxing win over Anthony McCracken at the Challenge Stadium in Perth, Australia on the Danny-BJ Flores undercard.

After losing by 2nd round knockout to Kiwi rival David Tua in October 2009, Cameron has stripped off over 32lbs to compete in the cruiserweight division.

33 year-old Cameron 26-2 (20) was cut badly over his right eye, but controlled the action mostly via his strong left jab.

27 year-old Australian McCracken 13-5 (5) bravely continued to work forward into rounds 11 and 12, in attempt to spring an upset, but Cameron’s stronger punches secured him the victory.

Judges scored the fight unanimously for Cameron 116-112, 117-111 and 116-112, winning him the vacant IBO Asia Pacific cruiserweight title.

The fight was also an official eliminator for a shot at Commonwealth cruiserweight champion Dominic Vea.

Cameron has been pursing a fight with Danny Green and new trainer Barry Michael was pleased with his boxer’s performance.

“It showed Shane can fight twelve rounds at cruiserweight,” said Michael. “He needed the bout and he fought well. It was a good gallop for Shane.”
