By Paul Upham: If it was a case of who was trying to best show their cool, Danny Green’s foot thongs below his suit won out over Roy Jones Jr’s ‘Wrecka” work overalls to take apart the “Green Machine”. The boxers fronted the media on Monday morning at Star City Casino to promote their Wednesday night battle at Acer Arena in Homebush, Sydney.
“Feeling great, feeling very relaxed, hence the reason I wore the thongs,” explained 36 year-old Green 27-3 (24). “We had to show up in a suit, but we thought we would stay more relaxed.”
40 year-old Jones Jr 54-5 (40) is attempting to win a world title belt in his fifth weight class and as usual, is supremely confident.
“I love the talking and I love the fighting. I love both,” he said. “You got to have a plan A, B and C and I have one all the way down to Z.”
Jones Jr is a huge betting favourite in the match which is something not unexpected for Green.
“I think everyone underestimates me,” he said. “Definitely. Roy is the raging favourite and rightly so on his career, his achievements and his ability as a fighter. In his last performance he destroyed Jeff Lacy. But that is going to work in my favourite.”
The Green-Jones Jr card will commence at 6:00pm AEDT and will be televised in Australia on Main Event Pay-Per-View and at participating Fox Sports Pub & Club Venues. The Green-Jones Jr fight will be televised in the USA on delay on VERSUS.
