By Paul Upham in Pyrmont: Danny Green and Roy Jones Jr fronted a huge crowd indoors at Star City Casino in Sydney on Tuesday afternoon for their official pre-fight weigh-in. The two boxers will battle for the IBO cruiserweight boxing world title on Wednesday night December 2 at Acer Arena in Homebush, Sydney.

40 year-old Jones Jr 54-5 (40) looked to be in phenomenal physical condition and weighed in at 81.45kg (179.2lbs).

“It is a wonderful blessing to have the opportunity to be able to come to Australia and share my beautiful gift with the Australian public,” said Jones Jr.

The American great will be attempting to win a world title belt in his fifth weight class and will be fighting outside of the USA for the first time as a professional.

“I want to put on a performance for you guys,” Jones Jr told the crowd, “and that’s very important and that’s what I will be thinking about in the next 24 hours.”

After the future Hall of Famer had already weighed-in, 36 year-old Green kept Jones Jr waiting on the stage for close to ten minutes before he arrived.

Jones Jr looked out casually towards the crowd of over 500 people at the weigh-in and said, “Anyone got any questions?”

Finally, Green 27-3 (24) appeared and tipped the scales at 81.30kgs (178.9lbs).

“Thank you all for coming down here. I appreciate your support,” Green told his fans. “The place is going to be absolutely rocking tomorrow night.”

Both men then performed the traditional nose to nose stare down for the huge media contingent and to the cheers of the crowd. Neither fighter flinched.

* There a few tickets still available for the Green-Jones Jr event at www.Ticketek.com.au. The Acer Arena is being set up to accommodate a crowd of 18,500 people.

* The Green-Jones Jr card will commence at 6:00pm AEDT and will be televised in Australia on Main Event Pay-Per-View and at participating Fox Sports Pub & Club Venues. The Green-Jones Jr fight will be televised in the USA on delay on VERSUS.
