Kickett Return Stays Positive on Nitro Boxing Card

Kickett lands his right hand: Tim Barry

By Paul Upham in Wyong: The winning return of Aboriginal star “Cool” Willie Kickett continued on Friday night with a unanimous four round points win over Roel Mangan at the Wyong Rugby League Club in NSW, Australia. The match headlined a ten fight “Nitro Boxing” card promoted by Angelo Hyder.
22 year-old Kickett 15-1 (5) from Perth recorded his second win in five weeks, since his shock one round knockout loss to Ahmed Elomar on November 7.
The talented junior lightweight prospect, who is trained by Craig Christian, was never troubled by the Filipino from Cebu City. While he never looked like being stopped, Mangan was simply unable to counter Kickett’s impressive speed, movement and skills.
All three judges scored the fight for Kickett 40-36, 40-36 and 40-36.

The ten fights on the card were four round matches designed to increase the speed and intensity of the contests.
The knockout of the night was delivered by 31 year-old junior lightweight Brendan Batty, who found himself behind on the cards after two completed rounds against Kane Buckley. After some between the rounds face slapping from his trainer Angelo Hyder, a fired up Batty dropped Buckley with a sweet right hand in round 3. A dazed Buckley somehow beat the count, but was quickly finished off by Batty for the TKO win at the 1:29 minute mark.
Popular Central Coast local Josh Jenkins was impressive in winning his professional debut by unanimous four round pints decision over Afisa Vili from New Zealand. Jenkins, who has well developed boxing skills, was supported by a large vocal fan base, all who were wearing back Team Jenk t-shirts.
