Lewis and Bruno welcomed in Manchester

13-Nov-10 21:55
Lennox Lewis
By Paul Upham: Before the David Haye-Audley Harrison WBA heavyweight boxing world title event in Manchester on Saturday night, former undisputed world champion Lennox Lewis was welcomed into the arena.

The heavyweight great received a tremendous roar of applause from the crowd inside the MEN Arena, with chants of “Lewis, Lewis.” It prompted the 45 year-old to say, “It made me feel like fighting again.”

After speaking to the crowd, Lewis ushered former opponent Frank Bruno into the ring and the two British boxers raised each others arms to the audience.

Lewis defended his WBC heavyweight title against Bruno by 7th round stoppage on 1 October 1993 at the Cardiff Arms Park in Cardiff, Wales.
