By Paul Upham: WBC/WBA/IBF junior bantamweight boxing world champion Vic “Raging Bull” Darchinyan has weighed in at an amazing 127.7 lbs for his mandated second IBF weigh-in on Saturday morning in preparation for his clash with IBF bantamweight world champion Joseph Agbeko tonight on Showtime Championship Boxing..
After the mandatory weigh-in 24 hours before a world title fight, IBF rules state that both boxers must also weigh-in on the morning of the match and cannot exceed the weight class limit by more than 10 lbs.
On Friday, Darchinyan tipped the scales at 117½ lbs, just under the 118 lbs bantamweight limit.
Despite being the boxer who is moving up in weight for this fight, Darchinyan has consistently stated that he will be the bigger fighter when the opening bell rings at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida, and he has been proven to be correct.
IBF title-holder “King Kong” Agbeko weighed in at 116½ lbs on Friday and hit the scales at 121.1 lbs on Saturday morning.
33 year-old Vic Darchinyan, the Armenian born 2000 Olympian and Australian citizen, has a professional boxing record of 32 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw and 26 wins by knockout.
29 year-old Joseph Agbeko from Accra, Ghana, has a professional boxing record of 26 wins, 1 loss and 22 wins by knockout.
