Roy Jones’ 2002 schedule discussed tomorrow

By Paul Upham: Brad Jacobs, the adviser and representative to Roy Jones Junior, will be in New York on Thursday morning for meetings with HBO to determine the light-heavyweight champion’s schedule for 2002.

“From those meetings we’ll make some decisions on timing,” said Jacobs. “I’ll know better the early part of next week what we are doing.”

With a Jones v Felix Trinidad clash falling through after the Puerto Rican’s loss to Bernard Hopkins, Jones has indicated that he wants to defend his titles against mandatories Glenn Kelly (IBF) and Clinton Woods (WBC) before pursuing a fight with new undisputed middleweight champion Hopkins.

With a full HBO schedule for the remainder of this year already in place, Jones is likely to return to the ring early in 2002.
