Top Weight for Green vs. Flores
11-Nov-10 08:53
By Paul Upham: Australian Danny Green’s defence of the IBO cruiserweight boxing world title on Wednesday 17 November 2010 in Perth against undefeated American BJ Flores will be a true cruiserweight match at 200 pounds. 37 year-old Green, who is still really only a light heavyweight in size, will give away considerable bulk to his younger and taller opponent.
Since his comeback in April 2009, Green’s five fights at cruiserweight have seen him weigh-in at 180¼, 179½, 179¼, 184¾ and 184¼ pounds.
In his last five fights, 31 year-old Flores has weighed in at 218, 200, 207, 199¼ and 200 pounds.
As Green’s close friend and manager Justin Manolikos told me on Thursday, “Flores can weigh what he wants, but if he doesn’t make cruiserweight, he can’t win the title.”
The Green-Flores fight will be televised on MAIN EVENT and FOX SPORTS Pub & Club Vision at participating venues from 8:00pm AEDT.
