Derek Bonnett has followed the sport of boxing enthusiastically for over twenty years. At SecondsOut, he has reported on all levels of the game and carries a passion for the lower, often overlooked, weight classes.

Derek holds a BS in English/Literature from Southern Connecticut and a MA in Humanities from Wesleyan University and has instructed English in Connecticut public schools for eight years. He was voted most outstanding wrestler in high school and wrestled at the college level as well. He has volunteered his time to instruct wrestling and condition young fighters at the Police Athletic League.
