Baysangurov Retains WBO Crown In Kiev




Zaurbek Baysangurov, 28-1-(20), successfully retained his WBO light middleweight title at the Sports Palace in Kiev, Ukraine on Saturday night when he out-pointed challenger Lukas Konecny, 48-4-(23), over 12 rounds.

 

Konecny, who suffered a nasty cut over his left eye in the 12th and final round, was defeated on all three judges cards by scores of 119-109, 118-110 and 117-111.

 

On the undercard light-middleweight Dmitry Nikulin, 25-1-(8),out-pointed Uzbekistan’s Fayschullo Ahmedov, 10-11-1-(5) in a bout over eight rounds-. Nikulin used his speed to good effect as the scores of 78-74, 79-73 ond 79-74, proved.

 

In a light heavyweight bout German boxer Dominique Boesel, 8-0-(2), remained unbeaten by easily out-pointing Slovakian Vladimir Tazik, 4-19-1 by six unanimous decision. Tazik on the wrong end of a beating but still managed to go the distance. The scores were 60-54 (twice) and 60-50.

 

welterweight Dmitriy Semernin and Georgian Ambrosi Sutidze fought to an eight round split decision draw. Sememin was busier in the first part of the fight, but Sutidze fought back late on. The scores were 76-76, 78-74, 76-78 Semernin finished up with cuts over both eyes..
