Canelo And Golovkin Each At 160

Golovkin and Alvarez face off
Golovkin and Alvarez face off

By Marc Livitz reporting from Las Vegas: In a break from tradition, the doors at the MGM Grand Garden Arena opened at 10am on Friday morning instead of the usual afternoon time for boxing fans to grab an ideal seat for a championship weigh-in. Often times, some are unable to secure tickets for the actual contest, so the chance to see their favorite fighters step unto the scales, stare the other man down and whip the crowd into a frenzy has become a custom all its own. As expected, the majority of the crowd were pro-Canelo Alvarez as well as pro-Mexico, however a great amount of respect and cheering went to Gennady Golovkin. The scene was absolutely electric and some fans had lined up outside of the arena doors as early as 6am.
Once the clocks in Vegas hit high noon, the participants for Saturday’s "Supremacy" fight card took to the scales. The bout will be televised in the United States beginning at 8pm ET/5pm PT on HBO Pay-Per-View.
