By Clive Bernath; Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye has signed the contract to fight Tyson Fury on September 28. The 32 year-old Londoner signed the contract earlier today and was filmed and uploaded onto his Instagram account.
Haye is hoping Fury signs as well, though rumour has it that Fury could back out and take on American Tony Thompson, the man that battered David Price into a fifth round defeat last weekend.
Accompanying Haye’s self made video was also a quote from him saying: "I’ve just signed to fight Fury on Sep 28, let’s hope he finally agrees (and signs today) and he doesn’t keep delaying.
"Word around camp fire is Fury is looking to duck me and fight Tony ’The Tiger’. Let’s hope they are just rumours ..."
It has been understood for weeks that Haye vs Fury is a done deal for September 28 in Manchester bar a few very minor details but until Fury signs the same contract as Haye there is no fight happening any time soon.
Lets just hope Fury wanting to take on Thompson is just another rumour or a ploy to wind up Team Haye. There really is only one fight out there for Fury right now and its not against a solid and crafty old pro like Thompson.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, lets hope commonsense prevails and we see Haye And Fury facing each other in the ring on September 28.
