After defeating Julio Cesar Chavez Jr to re-claim the WBC middleweight title last weekend Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez will undergo surgery next week in Madrid, Spain to repair his right knee.
Martinez arrived in Vegas suffering slight knee discomfort and aggravated it during the fight against Chavez Jr. On top of that, ‘Marvella’ fractured his left hand and is sporting a deep cut on the scalp.
The pound for pound top 10 boxer has plenty of options when he does eventually fight again one being an offer him from the Dallas Cowboys football stadium management led by Jerry Jones, to hold a rematch against Cesar Chavez Jr.
It has also been reported that the Argentine soccer team River Plate, may be interested in staging a boxing card so Martinez can defend his title- something which would be historic in the country of Argentina.
