Angel Garcia, the father and trainer of Danny Garcia believes Britain’s Amir Khan is an ‘Overrated fighter and his son will prove it when the pair clash For Garcia’s WBC light welterweight crown at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 14.
Speaking at a press conference in Los Angeles on Monday Angel Garcia said: "We are having a great camp.
"Khan is an overrated fighter. We are coming out here to fight the best. You want young fighters to come out and fight to prove themselves and that’s what we have on July 14.”
On hearing Garcia Sr’s comments about him being an overrated fighter Khan responded: "When I beat your son, am I still going to be overrated? Maybe it’s Danny who is the one who is overrated. I promise you this is going to be a good fight. This is going to be a legendary fight.
Khan added; "I have seen him(Garcia) fight and he has a dangerous style. He is tough, but he has never faced anyone like me.
Although Garcia. 23-0-(14), faces Khan on the back of a career best win over Mexican legend Erik Morales(w pts 12), Khan will prove his toughest fight to date but the 24 year-old unbeaten champion insists we have not seen the best of him yet.
"Khan is a great fighter. I’m a great fighter,” said Garcia Jr. “When you put two great fighters together, you have to fight your best to get the win. This is a big fight, but every fight is a big fight for me.
"I bring blood, sweat and tears. Literally I brought tears at my last fight. You haven’t seen the best of Danny Garcia."
Promoter of the event Oscar De La Hoya also believes fight fans are in for a great fight come July 14.
"Khan has proven himself over and over against champions and legends said De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions.. “He is now the most popular fighter in the U.K. and Danny Garcia is a champion who recently fought a legend in Erik Morales.
"You have to take your hat off to both fighters because they didn’t have to take such a tough fight. It will be an exciting night at Mandalay Bay."
