Tim Bradley was in a confident mood when he addressed the press in Las Vegas this week ahead of his Saturday night showdown with Mexican great, Juan Manuel Marquez. The WBO Welterweight champion and Manny Pacquiao conqueror had this to say:
"On Saturday night I will be using lots of feints…my speed…set lots of traps and getting him to commit. Marquez hates to fight while backing up. He’s going to get frustrated. Give me three rounds and I will take over the fight. The main thing is to say focused, to concentrate and don’t listen to the crowd. I weighed 148 this morning.”
“I’m coming to fight. I’m coming to win. I’m looking for my place in history…to establish my legacy. I should be a top-three pound for pound fighter if I win on Saturday. Doubters motivate me. I love being an underdog. I promised my corner on this fight I would use my skills more. It’s an interesting fight. I’m very hyped to be facing a Hall of Famer in Nacho and Marquez. I keep winning Joel [Diaz] should get his due after I beat Marquez."
Talking of Diaz and his team in General the Palm Springs native continued:
“Joel pumps me up when I come to corner during the fight He gets me through the fights. He fires me up. My Dad inspires me, too. I may be injured and he’ll yell out that Muhammad Ali fought 14 rounds with a broken jaw against Ken Norton. Joel and my Dad are honest with me during the fight. If they think I’m losing they’ll tell me the truth. We started out together at the bottom and we worked our way up to the top.”
