Vasyl “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko (10-1, 8KO’s) and Jorge “El Nino de Oro” Linares (44-3, 27KO’s) held their final press conference on Thursday at Madison Square Garden in New York.
In front of the assembled media Linares, who defends his WBA lightweight title for the seventh time, said he has had Lomachenko on his radar for quite a while: “The last two opponents I faced were southpaws and I have had Vasyl Lomachenko on my radar – I have been preparing for him.
Linares also added that whilst Lomachenko is a highly skilled operator he is still learning as a professional boxer:“The fight is going to get more intense as the rounds go by. He is an elite fighter and an elite amateur fighter but he is still learning as a professional.”
Lomachenko responded by saying: “we will find out who is best,” and that “No one knows if there will be a knockout. Training went well, there are no injuries thank God.”
