Lee McAllister makes the first defence of his Commonwealth Light-Welterweight Title against fellow Scot Eddie Doyle of Glenboig at the Beach Ballroom in Aberdeen on Friday 19th October.
Doyle, who is the current British Masters Champion and is undefeated since turning Professional in 2008, was delighted to be given this opportunity to face McAlister.
“It was my intention this season to chase for a British Title chance but this is a dream come true to box Lee for the Commonwealth,” said Doyle. .” Lee has been a great champion and won many titles but I feel that I can grab the title with both hands and the chance has come at the right time”
The show will also feature Matthew McAllister, Darren Traynor and hopefully the pro-debut of Aberdeen based Marek Laskowski.
Lee McAllister is promoting the event under his Granite City Promotions said;
“After my unsuccessful challenge for the European Title I am fully recovered from my injuries and want to show my faithful Aberdeen fans that I still have much to offer.,” said McAlister “ The idea that fighting a fellow Scot in Eddie Doyle makes me even more determined to put on a show. I also am fighting for family pride because Eddie defeated my brother Matthew in the final of the Scottish Amateur Championships.”
Doyle who is trained by former Commonwealth Gold medallist John McDermott MBE is expecting to be the underdog but is already making plans to take his own faithful army of supporters to the Granite City.
