Provodnikov Feels He Was Robbed In New York

Ruslan Provodnikov Feels he was robbed of his WBO junior welterweight title against Chris Algieri in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday night.

Algieri, from Huntingdon, New York, won a 12 round split decision over Provodnikov but the Siberian tough guy was not happy with two of the judges scores.

Speaking after the fight Provodnikov said:“To me it feels like he was running all night and just jabbing,” said Provodnikov. “You can see the way I look, you can see the way he looked, I don’t see how you can win a fight just running all night…we all saw what happened. This isn’t the first time this has happened to me. HBO gave like nine more rounds to me, one of the judges gave six or seven more rounds to me.

“The local judges give it the other way. On top of that his eye was closed. It’s dangerous to fight like that. He could have gotten killed. If my eye was like that, they would have stopped the fight the round it started closing. I think it’s not fair!”
