PITTSBURGH — June 19, 2012 —Two true warriors are set to collide in the main event on Saturday, July 14 in the Rivers Casino Amphitheater. Former IBA World Super Featherweight Title Champion, Monty Meza-Clay, will go toe-to-toe with current title contender, Emmanuel “The Butcher” Lucero in “Rivers Rumble 3.” Presented by eight-time world champion Roy Jones Jr. in association with TNT Promotions, the event will feature a night of professional boxing by the river with a full card of action-packed bouts.
Pittsburgh’s own Meza-Clay (32W-3L-21KO), is the highest ranked and most popular professional fighter in the tri-state area. Lucero (26W-10L-14KO), of Mexico City, is best known for his IBF World Title clash with current boxing Pound-For-Pound King Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao and his victory over former Champion Rogers Mtagwa.
“I’m excited to finally see this matchup,” said future Hall of Famer Roy Jones Jr. “What’s intriguing is they’ve faced six common foes in their careers and three times Meza-Clay’s outperformed Lucero and three times Lucero’s outperformed Meza-Clay. This tells me that there will be fireworks going off in the Rivers Casino ring on July 14!”
Also included on the fight card for Rivers Rumble 3 is Super Middleweight Morgan “Big Chief” Fitch, Light Heavyweight Jaque “Lights Out” Lutz, Welterweight Billy “The Boilermaker” Hutchinson, Junior Middleweight Sammy Vasquez Jr., Middleweight Lennox “2 Sharpe” Allen and Cruiserweight Josh "The Handsome Hitman" Himes.
“This event consistently draws huge crowds, and we look forward to hosting the biggest fight of the summer,” said Matt Stewart, Vice President of Marketing at Rivers Casino. “Between the quality fighters included in this year’s card and our picturesque outdoor venue, this event that is not to be missed.”
Rivers Casino will hold a weigh-in party with all the boxers present for stand offs and interviews on Friday, July 13 at 7 p.m. in the Wheelhouse Bar and Grill.
