Sturm: ‘I’m In Great Shape’

Three time world middleweight champion Felix Sturm the German boxing media to his training camp in Cologne, Germany, today to watch him work out in preparation for his IBF Middleweight title challenge against Darren Barker on December 7 at the Porsche

Arena in Stuttgart.

Accompanied by light middleweight prospect and long-time friend Maurice Weber, he impressed the media with a tough training session. "I’m in great shape", Sturm said. "I don’t have to make weight anymore, I’m already at 160. I changed lots of things before my last fight against Predrag Radosevic and it paid off. Now, I’m even better. I will make history and become Germany’s first 4-time world champion on December 7."

Weber, who himself is getting ready for December 7, added: "He is a beast of nature. His strength is incredible but he’s also as fast as ever. There is no way Barker beats him."

World-class coach Fritz Sdunek and conditioning expert Joschka Grimm are in charge of Sturm’s training. "Felix has never been better at this stage – two and a half weeks before the fight", Sdunek told the media. "Everything is going according to the plan, probably even better, and I’m sure he’ll win that IBF belt.”

“I have huge respect for Darren Barker”, Sturm concluded. “But he has no idea what is coming for him.”
