Virgil Hunter, the trainer of unbeaten world No.1 super middleweight Andre Ward, believes IBF champion Carl Froch ‘would be a fool to fight Andre’, after Ward beat him so convincingly on points a couple of years ago. Froch, who impressively overturned a decision loss to Mikkel Kessler last weekend, believes he can also do the same to Ward.
But Hunter, who also trains Amir Khan, told the Daily Star newspaper:“Carl would be a fool to fightAndre.
“Andre would beat him. In fact, he would beat both Carl and Mikkel on the same night. Andre would knock out both of them.
“But, if they want to fight us, we would be happy to oblige. It remains to be seen, however, because nobody has made us an offer.”
Considering the way Ward defeated Froch the first time it is difficult to see how the British boxer can turn the tables on the classy American but Froch understandably believes he can
“He’s a fantastic fighter in the sense that he knows how to win and it’s true that he would be difficult to beat,” admitted Froch.
“But if we get the game-plan right and get him over to the UK, then what an unbelievable win that would be. If I could avenge the Andre Ward loss, can you imagine that?
