Williams To Undergo Spinal Surgery Today

Former world champion Paul Williams is set to undergo spinal surgery today(June 1), following the motor cycle crash last Sunday that has paralyzed him from the waist down.

Williams was to have been operated on on Wednesday but that was postponed and will now take place today. According to reports Williams has been given just a 10% chance of ever walking again or regaining any feeling below the waist.

Williams is of course is a fighter and his promoter Dan Goossen, said he is ready to fight the injury all the way.

"Paul believes he’ll overcome this and walk again," Goossen told The LA Times’. "This is the battle he has to overcome now, and when I hear Paul’s voice, I know there’s a shot. If there’s a little opening to make this better, Paul will find it."

Williams was set to challenge unbeaten Mexican wonder kid Saul Alvarez for his WBC light middleweight crown on September 15th. James Kirkland is now set to face Alvarez instead.
