Chris Eubank Jr. Locks Himself Away In Camp With New Trainer

Chris Eubank Jr. has locked himself away in his Brighton gym with new coach Nate Vasquez as he prepares for his impending war with super middleweight rival James DeGale. The bout will finally settle their years of feuding once and for 23rd Februaryat the O2 Arena in London.

Eubank Jr. has brought in Las Vegas based trainer Vasquez to his south coast headquarters, and is working alongside long-time trainer Ronnie Davies, the integral camp member who formerly trained his father Chris Eubank Sr. Davies will oversee the camp.

The single-minded and determined Eubank Jr. has always insisted that he has trained himself for his fights, but with losses to Billy Joe Saunders, and more recently, George Groves, Eubank Jr. realises that his career is on the line in the crucial clash against DeGale. Change was needed.

"Next Gen" met Vasquez at Floyd Mayweather’s Las Vegas gym last year where he is a resident coach. The pair gelled after intial talks and training sessions together. Vasquez was a former amateur standout and professional boxer. He’s worked with a number of prospects at Mayweather’s TMT outfit, including super-middleweight Kevin Newman II, and former WBC flyweight title challenger Muhammad Waseem.

Eubank Jr. has flown Vasquez over to England and put him into accommodation in his house, along with a specially selected sparring partner, as they work towards defeating two-time IBF super iddleweight champion DeGale.

“Training is going great with Nate and I feel that I’m learning and improving all the time, he’s brought a new dimension into my camp that I’ve probably needed,” said Eubank Jr.

“I certainly don’t regret anything I’ve done or what’s happened in my career, everything happens for reason and I’m my own man and shape my own destiny, but this is a big fight coming up and I felt a change was necessary so I’m happy to have Nate in the team,”

“I enjoy working with Nate and we got on well together when I met him in Las Vegas last summer and we have good chemistry. The things he was saying and telling me made sense and I feel they will make a big difference in the outcome of my fight against DeGale,”
