
Undefeated WBC No.1 middleweight Julio Cesar Chavez scored a clear and unanimous 10 round points win over Billy Lyell Saturday night to secure a shot at WBC champion Sebastian Zbik.
Chavex Jr, 42-0-1-(30), delighted the 12,000 fans in attendance at the Estadio Banorte in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico with his superior punching power and quicker hand speed. At the end of 10 rounds all three judges scored for Chavez Jr, 99-92, 96-94 and 98-92. The win secured Chavez Jr the WBC silver middleweight title.
On the undercard junior middleweight Saul Roman, 34-8-(29), recovered from a knockdown to score a second round tko win over Michael Medina, 24-3-2-(19,) . Time of the stoppage was 1:53.
