Abdusalamov Stable After Brain Surgery


Heavyweight boxer Magomed Adusalamov is in a stable condition following Emergency brain after sustaining a blood clot on the brain following his bout with Cuban boxer Mike Perez in New York on Saturday night.

 

Abdusalamov lost his unbeaten record to Perez in an entertaining and hard fought battle on the undercard of the HBO televised headliner between Gennady Golovkin and Curtis Stevens. Abdusalamov had reportedly gone to hospital after the fight to be treated for hand and face injuries but further tests revealed a blood clot on his brain. The 32 year-old was then operated on before being put into a medically induced coma.

 

Broadcasters of the event, HBO issued the following statement.

 

‘The thought and prayers of all of us at HBO Sports are with Magomed Abdusalamov. We are grateful for the medical care he is receiving here in New York City and out of respect to for Magomed and his family ,we will wait for any official updates on his condition before making any further statements.’
