If Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has his way he will face Floyd Mayweather Jr on Mexican Independence Day(Sept 14).
According to reports Alvarez’s manager Edison Reynoso has been quoted as stating that ‘Mayweather is the priority for Canelo this year, whether it’s in May or Mexican independence Day. It is a fact that (2013) Canelo will hold both fights in Las Vegas or one in Vegas and the other at Dallas Cowboys football stadium’.
If all goes to plan, and nothing is official as yet, it looks like both Mayweather Jr and Alvarez will fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 4 in separate bouts before facing each other on September 14. Mayweather Jr could face Robert Guerrero on the May 4 date.
