The North East’s premier boxing promoter Phil Jeffries joins forces with Frank Maloney and Loaded TV (Sky channel 200) to bring a British cruiserweight title fight to the Rainton Meadows Arena in Sunderland on Friday, February 15th 2013.
Current British cruiserweight champion John Lewis Dickinson from Newcastle makes the first defence of his coveted Lonsdale belt when he opposes former opponent David Dolan from Sunderland in a real North East Derby and pride will play a big part in this fight. The last time this pair met they produced a terrific scrap for the Northern area title at the stadium of light in the city of Sunderland.
This is a real crossroads fight with the loser being relegated to the small hall circuit and the victor will move onto the big fights and the big pay days.
Both boys realise the importance of the impending contest with Dolan saying when the fight was signed that "if I lose this contest it will be the last time I step in a boxing ring, I have come close to winning this title before and I am going to give it everything I have"
Dickinson countered by stating, " I have won the Prizefighter, the English title and the British title and my two losses have come on injury, I am looking for a sensational victory to make the boxing public sit up take note that I am one of the best fighters in the country".
Chief supporting contest will see undefeated Scottish heavyweight sensation Gary ’the highlander’ Cornish punching for win number thirteen when he takes part in his first eight rounder.
The colossal highlander who stands over 6ft 7" is managed by legendary Scottish fight promoter Tommy Gilmour jnr and promoted by Frank Maloney certainly looks one to watch for the future.
Classy Scarborough’s cruiserweight Danny Price boxes over six rounds and certainly has an eye on the winner of tonights main event, the undefeated 6ft 4" stylish was a former top amateur winning the ABA heavyweight title on two occasions.
