Arthur Abraham Edges Past Patrick Nielsen Via Split Decision

Former two weight world champion Arthur Abraham, 47-6-(30), scored a hard fought 12 round split decision win over Patrick Nielsen, 29-3-(14), at the Baden Arena in Offenburg, Germany on Saturday.

The younger Nielsen was the busier of the two fighters but the 38 year-old more experienced Abraham was the one taking the fight to Nielsen and threw the harder punches. Abraham was credited with a knockdown in the 10th round. The scores were 114-113 for Nielsen and 116-111 twice for Abraham.

On the undercard Nieky Holzken, 14-1-(11), scored a third round stoppage win over journeyman Bernard Donfack. Holzken decked Donfack in round three before his trainer threw in the towel.

In a light heavyweight bout Leon Bunn, 9-0-(6), was judged an eight round points winner of Czech journeyman Tomas Adamek 26-16-2-(9).
