WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew has called David Haye’s bluff by insisting he is prepared to face the former two weight world champ either at cruiserweight or heavyweight.
After Bellew had destroyed Haye’s sparring partner and friend BJ Flores inside four rounds last weekend, Haye revealed that if they ever met in the ring he would expose Bellew’s leaky defence and take him out.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Sunday morning, Bellew has called for Haye to put his money where his mouth is: "Come and fight a real world champion. I am the best cruiserweight in the world and let’s be totally honest here, David Haye isn’t a genuine, legitimate heavyweight. He’s originally a cruiserweight, he once had this belt and now I’m saying I’m the best cruiserweight in the world.
"If you don’t want to come back to your old weight no problem - you might be scared to come back down to your old weight - but I’ll happily step up. I enjoy my food and I will enjoy punching him in the face.
"Going up is not an issue. I have a good team around me, we will make the sacrifices and the things that need to be done, will be done. Eddie will come up with that and help deal with it. But it’s not an issue."
If a fight can be made it looks like it will happen some time in March on PPV but if Haye decides the fight is not for him, Bellew says he will not be hanging around: "I’m about big fights, mega-fights, and if it’s not him it’s got to be a unification fight, it’s as simple as that," Bellew told Sky Sports News.
