Bonte: ‘Haye Is Scared To Fight Vitali’

Bernd Bonte, the manager of WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko, Believes David Haye is scared to fight Vitali and pricing himself out of a fight.

There has been talk of Vitali defending his title against Haye in the summer but Bonte has dismissed any thought of a clash between the pair unless the British boxer becomes more realistic regarding the financial split.

Bonte said: ’There is no longer anything going on with Haye. Our two sides are so far apart that from this moment there is no chance of this fight ever taking place.

’The difference is all about the numbers. Haye is asking for so much money that it is impossible. He wants an impossible guarantee plus half the British television rights while we do all the work and take on all the costs.

’We just don’t know what he could bring to the event.

’What we do know for certain is that Sky will not put him on pay-per-view again so there would be limited fees from them for a normal broadcast.

Bonte added: ’There is no way of knowing how much Primetime (the fringe rival to Sky in Britain) could generate from pay TV. And frankly, the only reason another fight with Haye was even considered was because Vitali was so keen to knock him out after all his insults.’

Incredibly, Haye’s trainer-manager, Adam Booth is said to have previously accuse the Klitschkos of using Haye to hype themselves without ever intending to fight, but Bonte dismissed this completely, countering: ’Why would we seek publicity through a loser? We made a very good offer considering he is a loser with a little toe excuse. Haye is scared to fight Vitali and is pricing himself out of the market.’

Vitali’s younger brother Wladimir clearly out-pointed Haye over 12 rounds in Germany back in July, 2011
