Heavyweight contender Denis Boytsov (32-0, 25 KOs), remained unbeaten in Gent, Belgium on Friday night when he won a routine eight rounder against Samir Kurtagic, (11-6, 8 KOs),
The scores were 80-73, 79-74, 78-74. Boytsov looked a little rusty at the start and missed the target often. The fight was briefly stopped in the sixth round for a low blow from Kurtagic and Boytsov hit the deck three times after being pushed over.
Boytsov was scheduled to fight this Sunday in Schwerin (Germany) against Marcelo Luiz Nascimento but at the last minute to decided to fight on Friday against a different opponent, date and venue.
The reason for the sudden switch is reportedly because promoter Waldemar Kluch claimed to have an exclusive contract with the Russian boxer. Kluch bought the promotional contract from Universum Box-Promotion two years ago and had threatened to sue Boytsov and everybody involved in his fights for breach of contract. But hours before the Kurtagic fight a court in Hamburg, Germany released Boytsov from his contract
