Juergen Braehmer won the vacant WBA scoring a 12 round unanimous decision over Marcus Oliveira at the Jahnsportforum in Neubrandenburg, Germany on Saturday.
The first half of the fight was more of a tactical encounter until Braehmer upped the pace and took the fight to Oliveira. Oliveira mounted a brief comeback in the ninth but Braehmer scored a knockdown in round 10 and capitalised on that in the 11th. Oliveira made a last gasp effort to turn the fight around in the 12th and last round but Braehmer held on by Scores of 115-112 and 117-110 twice.
No.1 heavyweight contender Kubrat “The Kobra” Pulev, 19-0-(10), remained on course for a crack at world heavyweight champ Wladimir Klitschko Saturday night after scoring a fourth round tko win over Joey “Minnesota Ice” Abell.
Pulev suffered a minor scare in the fourth round when he decked by. Pulev immediately sprang to life and floored with a body shot. Pulev then decked Abell twice more in the same round, both from body shots. Abell retired before the start of round five.
In a light middleweight bout Jack Culcay, 16-1-(10), registered a 12 round unanimous decision win over Dieudonne Belinga, 11-4. Culcay decked Belinga at the end of the fifth round before recording a 116-111 twice and 118-109,points win.
At light heavyweight Enrico Koelling remained unbeaten at,11-0-(3), after scoring an eight round points win over Tomas Adamek, 20-10-(7).
Middleweight Dominik Britsch won a hard fought eight round split decision over late replacement Soufiene Ouerghi. In a super middleweight bout Tyron Zeuge improved to, 11-0-(6), scored a sixth round stoppage win over Alessio Furlan.
