Reigning WBO lightweight world champion Ricky Burns will meet his home fans at a dinner show at the Glasgow Hilton on September 21st.
The special event, which is being organised by Storm Sports, will give boxing enthusiasts the chance to question the Scottish star on his training regime, career to date and future plans within the sport.
Burns won the Commonwealth super featherweight title in 2008 and defended it on three occasions before exploding on to the world scene with a stunning decision win over fearsome Puerto Rican puncher, Roman Martinez, in September 2010.
With the victory came the WBO Super Featherweight Championship and “The Rickster” followed with two stoppages in his next three fights before moving north to the lightweight classification in search of further glory.
Michael Katsidis was an extremely audacious choice as a debut opponent at 135lbs but the gamble paid off when Burns dominated the hard hitting Australian with a flawless exhibition of smart boxing and ring generalship to capture the WBO Interim title in November 2011.
The Scotsman was then upgraded to full lightweight champion and turned in quality performances against both Paulus Moses and Kevin Mitchell, in follow up defences.
Moses barely won a round and Mitchell, a former British and Commonwealth champion, could not match Burns in terms of talent or aggression and succumbed to a brutal fourth round stoppage.
In his most recent outing Burns halted dangerous mandatory challenger Jose “Chelo” Gonzalez in nine rounds and will now face off against high quality Mexican, Raymundo Beltran, on September 7th at the SECC in Glasgow.
Those in attendance will be treated to a superb three course meal and the event will also feature a comedian, a Guest MC and there will be a photo opportunity with the two weight world champion.
Tickets are priced at £65.00, £75.00 and £85.00.
