Bute Target Froch Showdown

InterBox announced Friday that, due to the unavailability of WBC/WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward being injured, IBF champ Lucian Bute has targeted a showdown with Britain’s Carl Froch.

If Froch and Bute can agree terms the fight could take place on April 14. However, Showtime, whom Bute is under contract, may not be so happy for the fight to take place.

Interbox president Jean Bedard stated that Showtime“does not share the same vision or enthusiasm (in the fight).

“We have to do everything in our power to make the fight with Froch,” said Bedard, “we owe this fight to our fans, who have been supporting us and following Lucian’s career since the very beginning.”

Showtime reportedly prefer Bute to defend his title against Andre Dirrell.
