Former Three-time world champion and Puerto Rican boxing legend Miguel Cotto and opponent Delvin Rodriguez took part in their final press conference Thursday ahead of their upcoming 12 round light middleweight clash battle at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida on Saturday.
Below is what Cotto,Rodriguez and trainer Freddie Roach had to say on Thursday.
Miguel Cotto:”I’m glad to be here and I’m ready. I had a great camp like Freddie said before. I’m ready. I’m just counting the hours to be right here on Saturday night. I’m going to be focused, I’m going to be sharp, I’m going to be Miguel Cotto.”
Delvin Rodriguez:”I’m just enjoying every second of this because this is an opportunity that I earned. I got to this opportunity the hard way. After so many years of hard work, one bad decision after the other, tough fights, I’m just thankful to God that I’m here. There was a time when I said forget about boxing, forget this, this isn’t for me anymore, but I said I’m not going to throw so many years of my life away after so much hard work. So I’m glad I stuck with it and thanks to God I’m here.2
Cotto’s trainer Freddie Roach:”Miguel has given me the opportunity to have the best training camp in my entire life and he’s worked so hard for this fight and we’ve made a lot of adjustments for Delvin. Delvin’s a difficult opponent, we know that, we’re ready for that and I can’t wait for Saturday night.”
The event will be promoted by Miguel Cotto Promotions and Top Rank, in association with Star Boxing and Tecate, Cotto vs. Rodriguez will be televised LIVE on HBO Championship Boxing.
