Diaz Is Next Up For Khan

According to British national newspaper The Sun Mexican born American Julio Diaz will face Amir Khan at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield on April 27.

Diaz told The Sun that not only has he signed the contract but he insist the British boxer will be in for a long and painful night.

"We are waiting for official confirmation from the Khan camp but as of now they have my contract which I have signed,” said Diaz.

"We have reached an agreement on a deal and everything is secure "

Diaz added: "There are a lot of weaknesses. He can’t take a punch and when he gets overwhelmed he tends to panic too much.

"I aim to make it a brawl. I won’t be too technical or too pretty but it will be a real fight."

According to reports a number of high profile boxers have declined the opportunity to face Khan for one reason or another including lack of financial incentive or the weight not agreed upon.

The fight has been made at 143lbs, ideally Diaz would rather fight at 147lbs but he is desperate to face Khan so will take a hit on the weight

"Of course I would have preferred hundred forty seven but I am not in a position to force it because I wanted the opportunity to fight Khan,” Diaz.

"My last fight was at 146 so it’s another three pounds only.I have been knocking on doors a long time and Khan is the fighter letting me in. He said he wants to fight in the UK, wherever the man is I am ready to go with it."
