No.1 lightweight contender Daniel “Tremendo” Estrada and current WBC silver champ, had a pretty successful 2012.
“2012 has been the best year of my career so far. I had the chance to face great rivals and I think I have now enough skills and experience to become world champion," Estrada said.
Estrada stressed that he would like to fight in March in order to get in the best shape possible, for the first WBC World Cup that will begin in May. “I’m very happy to be part of the tournament, which I’m sure will be huge, because it’s created by the WBC”, said Estrada.
The 27 year-old also expressed his admiration for his compatriot Juan Manuel Marquez, who ended 2012 with that famous knockout win over Manny Pacquiao. “He’s an example of perseverance. Juan Manuel never ceased to aim for his goal and he achieved it. His amazing KO victory over Manny Pacquiao will remain forever in history. My goal is to become world champion and then become an historic boxer just like “Juanma,” he stressed.
